The 24th Annual Elmhurst Student Chess Tournament will be held on Tuesday, March 17 in the Commons area at York High School. The tournament starts promptly at 6:00 pm, and you must be checked in by 5:50 pm to participate. More details and sign up form can be found here. Also, you can review the Tourney Rules here .

The NEW Jaguar CLAW Club (Cultural Learning & Awareness) will promote awareness, appreciation and acceptance of the diverse cultures within our school community and beyond. CLAW will meet one a month, after school (3:15-4:15) in the library. During these interactive meetings, students will learn about the day-in- a-life of a student from various countries. We will have country-specific crafts, music and movement activities as well as movies, and guest-speakers from relevant countries, when available.

This group is designed to educate our students about science and the environment. We will talk
about things kids can do now to improve the health of the world we live in. In past years, our big
projects have included adopting animals at Brookfield Zoo, collecting plastic caps for the benches in front of school, and selling reusable straws to raise money for the Jackson garden. Our kids can make a difference and they can begin right here at Jackson!!

we don’t meet on every late start):
Our final Lego Club meeting is approaching next week (3/16) --- the kids and coaches are excited to show you what they have been working on the last few months!
For the last meeting next Monday, please be sure you child wears his or her Lego Club t-shirt and arrives promptly at 6:30.
- Parents and family members are invited to stay for the presentations. We will have chairs set up for people to sit and watch.
- The presentations will begin at 7:00 pm and should be over around 7:30 pm.
- After the presentations, parents will have an opportunity to get closer to their child's presentation board and model as well.
Jackson Lego Club registration is CLOSED for this year. If you have interest, please watch back at the beginning of the next school year to be a part of the 2020-21 team!

educational US First Junior Lego League program. Check out www.firstlegoleague.org for more
details. We will be focusing on the Junior US First Lego League Program. We are excited to
Introduce the Boomtown Challenge this year.
Our Junior US First Lego League Challenge Season will meet weekly 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM Monday evenings in the Multipurpose Room from December 2, 2019 to March 16, 2020 on days when school is in session.
The cost to join the Lego Club is $85 per new student club member and $20 for returning members. This cost covers the required US First Lego WeDo/Education 2.0 STEM sets, storage containers, craft supplies, printing costs etc. Payment and information were due no later than Friday, November 1, 2019.

The Jackson Lego Club had a great time this year learning about the Moon in our US First Lego League Jr challenge, Mission Moon. Thank you to all the coaches who made this season a success! Jackson Running Club this Fall will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Tuesday October 1 - Thursday November 7. Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades will be able to participate during the 11:25 - 11:55am time slot -- they will eat lunch immediately following Running Club.
